Why is it important to learn culture while learning a language?

Culture means a way of life and it implies ways people speak. Each region or country has its own context and even though people speak the same language, they can use it in different ways. It is important when people learn a language, learn the culture of the language to use the words or phrases correctly in a specific context. For example, in Costa Rica we use the phrase ¡Pura Vida! a lot. It means “pure life” and it is used in informal contexts to say hello, goodbye, how are you?  or everything is great.
